"The study examines the existing potential of Azerbaijan’s Western tourism region, the fundamental competitive challenges it encounters, and its development prospects within the context of smart tourism paradigms. Within the framework of the research, the region's natural resource base, historical-cultural heritage, and ecotourism potential are analyzed; furthermore, infrastructural
deficiencies, the destination's weak representation on digital platforms, and the seasonal nature of tourism are evaluated as the primary destructive factors. Concurrently, the integration possibilities of virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and mobile technologies into the tourism sector are investigated, and their impact on consumer behavior and decision-making mechanisms is scientifically and theoretically substantiated. The article puts forward conceptual proposals aimed at formulating a sustainable smart tourism strategy, strengthening public–private partnerships, stimulating digital capital investments, and optimizing ecotourism activities. Ultimately, it is determined that innovative technologies play a multiplicative role in developing the region's tourism ecosystem and enhancing its global competitiveness.
