Abstract

Medical and health tourism represents a significant growth opportunity for Azerbaijan. This article examines international experiences from leading medical tourism destinations including Thailand, Germany, Turkey, Israel, and India, and analyzes their relevance for Azerbaijan's development strategy. The study identifies key success factors such as quality accreditation, institutional coordination, natural resource utilization, and niche specialization. Azerbaijan possesses substantial competitive assets including its geographic position, natural therapeutic resources, and cultural connections to major patient source markets. Selective adaptation of international best practices, combined with the development of regulation and institutional frameworks, can enable Azerbaijan to establish a competitive position in the global medical and health tourism market.
