Аннотация

In the digital economy, social media platforms have fundamentally reshaped the relationship between brands and consumers. At the center of this transformation stands influencer marketing, which has developed from a supplementary communication tactic into a strategically significant mechanism of persuasion, trust formation and social meaning creation. Influencers are not merely transmitters of promotional messages; they function as digital opinion leaders who create symbolic proximity with audiences, personalize brand communication and affect consumer decisions through psychological and social mechanisms. The purpose of this article is to systematize the effects of influencer marketing on consumer behavior through the concepts of trust, source credibility,
parasocial relationships, authenticity, social proof, normative influence and electronic word-of-mouth communication. The study is based on a conceptual and integrative literature review. It synthesizes recent academic research and selected industry reports in order to explain how influencer-generated content shapes brand attitudes, purchase intentions and customer engagement. The analysis shows that the persuasive power of influencer recommendations does not depend only on follower count. It is
primarily shaped by perceived authenticity, influencer-brand fit, emotional proximity, content value and transparent disclosure of commercial intent. The article distinguishes between psychological mechanisms, such as credibility, emotional attachment, aspiration and perceived similarity, and social mechanisms, such as digital social proof, community belonging, e-WOM and trend diffusion. It then integrates these mechanisms into a managerial framework for ethically and effectively governing influencer campaigns. The findings suggest that influencer marketing can strengthen brand trust and consumer engagement when it is strategically aligned and transparently managed. However, weak authenticity, hidden advertising intent, artificial engagement and poor influencer-brand fit may generate distrust, reputational risks and consumer resistance.
