Modern development perspectives of international trade

Abstract

This article provides a brief survey of the historical origins of international trade up to the present day. It walks through key historical milestones, highlights the current interconnected global 
trade landscape, and sheds light on the challenges faced by focusing on the impact of events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent trade wars, especially the tensions between the US and China, and the effects of the conflicts between protectionism and free trade on world trade against the background of the general economy are also touched upon. Today, the role of the service sphere in the trade volume and its increasing value, which has been increasing in recent years, is noted. The article aims to offer a brief but informative overview of the dynamic and evolving nature of international trade.
